- Yvonne Nelson in May led a demonstration against the erratic power supply "dumsor" in the country
|
Actress Yvonne Nelson was named as one of Africa's 'top 50 trailblazers' by The Africa Report magazine.
The list contains people who, according to the Paris-based magazine, are 'pioneers who will lead us to the Africa of tomorrow.' Nelson was chosen because of her role in the Dumsor protest.
"In a country where most celebrities avoid straddling the line between showbiz and politics, the Ghanaian actress most recently caught the attention of the public and political elite when she co-launched a protest march - with celeb colleagues Lydia Forson and Sarkodie - against the power crisis in the country," The Africa Report writes.
