The new Ga Mantse, known in private life as Dr Kelvin Nii Tackie Abia Tackie, was nominated after the kingmakers consulted the nominal head of the Ga Paramount Royal Ruling House, Teiko Tsuru We.
He will now respond to the stool name, King Dr Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.
In accordance with Ga tradition, he was presented to the Dzaase in Accra yesterday.
It is unclear what this purported installation means for the Ga State as a claimant to the paramountcy, Nii Adama Latse I, was also installed as the Ga Mantse after the demise of the disputed Ga Mantse, King Tackie Tawiah II, known in private life as Dr Joe Blankson, who passed away in London.
Installation
A statement signed by Ms Ananaa Annan, a member of the family, said before the final and colourful installation ceremony yesterday (Sunday), Dr Abia had on Friday been confined in a room for three days.
Speaking at a ceremony last Sunday to introduce the new Ga Mantse in the house of the warrior king of the Ga State, the Dzasetse of the Ga State, who is also the kingmaker, Nii Dr Kwei expressed satisfaction at the whole development and indicated that the uniqueness of the installation was the peaceful and proper procedural steps taken for the installation.
Nii Dr Kwei said whoever was purported to occupy the stool today could not be accorded the status of a Ga King, since that person would not have been properly installed.
He said the people of Ga Mashie could now be proud of a king who had the interest of the state at heart, a well-educated personality who had proven beyond doubt that he was ready to champion the socio-economic development of the state, and put premium on education of the people and above all would lead a clean and unified Ga for the growth and development of the whole nation.
