A Ghanaian student studying in Europe has died under mysterious circumstances.
Albert Awuah Kwofie was in Greece as part of a Masters programme that was to take him across four European countries; UK, Belgium, Greece and Portugal.
According to a family member, Godwin Odiatey, Kwofie has already been to the UK and Belgium and just got to Greece to continue with his programme which was expected to end in Portugal, until his mysterious death on Sunday.
The Greece University authorities reportedly told his family that he drowned in a lake.
But the family suspects foul play and wants the Ghanaian government to intervene to ensure justice prevails.
“If we have an embassy over there, they should get to the bottom of this case because this guy went there to study. He did not go there as a tourist, he did not go there looking for greener pastures. He went there to study and then for you to just call and say he has drowned, I just don’t understand,” Odiatey said.
He added that, Kwofie, who completed the University of Ghana does not swim and thus came to the family as a surprise when drowning was mentioned as the cause of his death.
