Gas explosion at Ngleshie Amanfrom kills 2

Two people died Tuesday afternoon after a gas cylinder exploded at a metal repairer's (welder) shop at Ngleshie Amanfrom in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra region. near Kasoa in the Central region.

One other person sustained serious injuries from the blast which was said to have happened around 1 pm. The police found the injured person unconscious and have since transported him to the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for treatment. He was yet to be identified.
Eyewitnesses said the three were doing maintenance works on the cylinders which contained oxygen when it exploded.
The badly mutilated bodies of deceased have been conveyed to the police hospital mortuary. They have been identified as Stephen Ofori and Prince Kwesi both apprentice metal repairers (welders).
The Amanfrom District Police Commander, ASP Isaac Aryeetey Quaye told Graphic Online’s Emelia Ennin Abbey that the police gathered that whilst the deceased were apprentices at the welding shop, the injured person was a driver who had come to the shop to assist the apprentices in their work.
Family members of the deceased besieged the police station and wept uncontrollably.
