Rap star Eminem, 42, saw his weight skyrocket while dealing with an addiction to pain killers Vicodin and Valium in 2007. The charismatic star became a recluse in his Michigan mansion, gorging on filet mignon and Mexican takeout every night of the week. Now the hip hop icon is coming clean about his pill addiction and the battle waged to overcome it and pull his body back from the brink of obesity.

Eminem has battled drug addictin in the past |
“In 2007, I overdosed on pills, and I went into the hospital. I was close to 230 pounds. I’m not sure how I got so big, but I have ideas,” the 8 Mile star told Men’s Journal. So how did the multi-platinum rapper win his war with his weight? Like so many other Americans, he got into work out DVDs. “I know a lot of these DVD guys are wacky, but I’m alone in my gym; I need someone on the TV yelling to motivate me. Besides, some of this s*** is entertaining,” he admitted. The “Lose Yourself” singer started by using Shaun T’s Insanity workout DVD. He then moved onto the notoriously grueling P90X workout and now he does the Body Beast workout DVD every day. Sounds intense but we have to agree that addiction to fitness is certainly better than addiction to drugs.
