Céline Dion Says Husband René Angélil Is In Hospital 'Fighting Very Hard'

Canadian singing sensation Céline Dion says her husband, René Angélil, is "fighting very hard" for his life at a Boston hospital, three months after she revealed major surgery left him unable to talk and feeding from a tube.

The 73-year-old, who used to manage Dion's career, is hospitalized to receive life-saving cancer treatment, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

In an emotional interview with the newspaper, Dion described Angélil's push to see her jump back into her singing career "before he goes.

"The reality is hard, but we have the ticket to live today," said Dion. "Today, we're alive, and we're going for it."

Last summer, Dion announced that she was putting her career on hold to care for her husband, who was diagnosed with throat cancer for a second time, in 2013.

In March, she announced her return to the stage, despite Angelil's ailing health.

"He wants me to be here. He wants me strong. He wants me back," Dion explained. "He wants to see me again."

Dion's dedication to both her husband and her career saw the My Heart Will Go On hitmaker complete a 7,700-kilometre round-trip journey this past weekend from Angélil's bedside in Boston to Las Vegas and back.

She performed a charity benefit with Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

The 47-year-old chanteuse will officially relaunch her residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with a new show on Aug. 27.

Dion says she'll be leaning on her fans for emotional support when she takes to the stage.

"It's going to be hard," she said. "When the curtain opens, I don't know how strong I will be that night."
