Ghanaian players who could light up the English Premier League this season

  • Christian Atsu poses with Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe after completing his season-long loan
Christian Atsu Twasam, 23, arrives from Stamford Bridge after a disappointing season on loan at Everton, where he started only one league game.

The Ghana international joined Chelsea from Porto in September 2013, signing a five-year contract for a fee of around £3.5m before he was immediately loaned out to Vitesse Arnhem.

  • Swansea City unveiled new signing Andre Ayew who joined on a free transfer after leaving Marseille

Andre Ayew, 25, signed a four-year deal on a Bosman free transfer after his deal with Marseille expired.

Ayew comes with a hefty reputation in his own right, having played in the Champions League and past two World Cups. The forward, who can play anywhere across the attacking line, will become the club's top earner, earning in excess of £50,000 a week.
He scored 10 goals for Marseille last season as they finished fourth in Ligue 1. During his time in France, he won the League Cup twice.

The 23-year-old Jordan Ayew has penned a five-year contract worth £8.5 million. Ayew becomes the third player signed from Ligue 1 by Sherwood this summer, following the arrivals of Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Amavi from Lille and Nice respectively, and takes Villa’s spending this window to £27.5m.

Ayew scored 12 goals and assisted six times last season and is seen as helping replace the loss of £32.5m Christian Benteke. Jordan could face his brother Andre Ayew on October 24 when Garry Monk’s side travel to Villa Park.

Jeffrey Schlupp extended his contract with Leicester City by signing a new contract to keep him at King Power Stadium until 29 June 2019.

The 22-year-old Ghana international enjoyed an outstanding debut season in the Barclays Premier League, which culminated in a double triumph at the Club’s end of season awards, where he won the Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year titles.

The versatile German-born Schlupp, who can also play in midfield and up front, won his first cap for Ghana against Gabon back in 2013 before earning a call-up to the country's provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He went on to claim a second cap for the Black Stars in a friendly against the Netherlands but missed out on selection in the 23-man squad for the finals.

Schlupp was also controversially omitted from Avram Grant's 2015 Africa Cup of Nations Ghana squad due to injury. His first international goal arriving earlier this month in a 7-1 victory over Mauritius.

With four goals in 35 appearances from City’s left side, the Academy graduate was a key member of the squad last term and instrumental in helping to steer Nigel Pearson’s men towards survival.
